Hijrah (Migration to Madinah)
622 CE — From Mecca to Madinah
“And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many [alternative] locations and abundance.” - Quran 4:100

Prelude

Facing persecution in Mecca, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers planned a secret migration to Yathrib (later Madinah), seeking a safe haven to practice their faith.

“Hijrah was not just a journey, but a leap of faith.”

Arrival in Madinah

The Prophet (PBUH) and his companions were warmly welcomed by the Ansar. The first mosque, Masjid Quba, was built, and the foundation of the first Muslim community was laid.

“The Ansar opened their hearts and homes, setting an example of brotherhood.”

Significance

The Hijrah marks the beginning of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. It united the Muhajirun (migrants) and Ansar (helpers), and established the first Islamic state.

“A new era of faith, unity, and community began in Madinah.”

Legacy

The Hijrah allowed Muslims to practice their faith freely and laid the foundation for the rapid spread of Islam. Its lessons of sacrifice and brotherhood continue to inspire.

“The journey of Hijrah is a timeless lesson in hope and perseverance.”
